spring eye candy...literally

This is the last Springtime tag book post. First you see a fun, colorful tag featuring real eye candy! Candy dots are so nostalgic to me, so this tag makes me smile!

The second photo is my stack of spring tags for the tag book. As you can see, we had to make a lot of tags! 25 I believe. So mine were as simple as I could make them. They are not my best work as I knew I didn't have time to pour my heart into that many at one time! I just used a small tablet of colorful card stock and a handful of Red Lead images that I color copied. I added a sprinkling of glitter, some paper flowers (the little ones in the glass bottles. I've had them for years and can never seem to get to the bottom of those bottles. I think they multiply when I'm not looking.)

The third photo is the finished tag book. So our own Debbie, put all 25 or so of these tag books together and mailed them out to everyone. Wow, what an undertaking! It reminds me a bit of the crazy Advent calendar matchbox swap I hosted a few years ago. The girls who helped me sort and put that one together are still talking about that chaotic afternoon. I had no idea how difficult it would be to execute. Swaps of that size are fun, but can be quite overwhelming! Perhaps that's why I'm enjoying the simplicity of this swap so much.

Thus endeth the spring tag book posts. I hope you found the tags inspiring!

the bird is the word

I have two more tags from the Springtime tag book to share. Birds are the perfect symbols of spring and the theme of many a tag! The lovely blue/teal tag was made by Chris, one of the owners of Red Lead. The 2nd one was made by Sally, a very talented artist and a fellow Red Lead "Swap Sister". I do not believe Sally has a web site or blog to visit. (If anyone knows otherwise, please leave a comment.) Such pretty birds...I can almost hear them singing.

Spring Has Sprung

I found this great card on Pinterest. The artist can be found here. Hilary has a whole collection of these delightful springy cards as well as some great spring baskets that she created. Pay her a visit!

I really like the happy, colorful, contemporary feel of this card. Most of what I make is vintage inspired, so I thought this would be something a little different, fresh and new to admire today. I just love it.

Gorgeous Spring Packaging

This is the final week of the March Swap. It went quickly! I'm still enjoying it too much to see it end! Anyway, I wanted to show you some spring packaging inspiration, and there is none prettier than this. I found it on Pinterest, but you must really see it here. Everything on this blog is wonderful...amazing inspiration and eye candy.

Keep your packaging simple. This year's swaps should easily mail in a bubble envelope. Some pretty packaging on the inside is always a nice touch!

For the new swappers and as a refresher for all, the mailing date is March 1st. This means "mail it by". If it is ready to go sooner, by all means, send it! Please email the person you are mailing to and let her know what day it was mailed, so she'll know when to expect it. When you receive your package, please email the sender to let her know you received it. I will also be posting our Mr. Linky for you to post pictures of what you received. And just as a reminder, these 3 things (both emails and posting) are swap guidelines. I can't wait to see what this crazy talented group made this month!

The sign ups for the April Swap will begin on March 1st! I'm already busy putting it together and it is going to be great!

This great tag was made by the very talented Linda. I love the image, the background and the colors. I have always loved receiving Linda's artwork in swaps. It is always lovely!

st patty garland

Once again, I used some favorite papers (the floral with the aqua specifically)and printed out a few vintage images. And then the usual recipe: a sparkling of glitter (which you can't see), sticker letters, clover punches, buttons & ribbons. The vintage leprechan planter is one of my favorite estate sale finds. I'd love to plant a real shamrock plant in there, but the planter is old and fragile and I don't want it to crack. But he sure makes my part -Irish green eyes smile!

St. Patricks Day

You are welcome to incorporate St Patrick's Day into your spring cards and tags this month if you wish. Not everyone celebrates this holiday, but almost everyone knows someone who does. My father was mostly Irish. He had pretty auburn hair (that never grayed) and green eyes. My mom would make the traditional corned beef with cabbage & boiled potatoes dinner for him on St Patrick's Day. I used to have a pin with a pair of holographic lips that said "Kiss me, I'm Irish" that I wore on St Patricks Day. I still have it. But that was about the extent of our celebrations. There are 2 great St Patrick's Day Parades in St Louis each year that I have attended a time or two with my kids, and lots of pub celebrations (which I've skipped!). But for some families I know, St Patrick's Day is a huge deal that they wait for all year. Are any of you Irish and/or do you celebrate St Patrick's Day?

Anyway, this is a St Patrick's Day tag that I made for a swap. I found this precious little lassie on an "Irish" google search and fell in love with her.

I also made a St Patty garland that is very similar to my Valentine garland. Tune in tomorrow... in the meantime, enjoy the music. Danny Boy is for my dad...

more destash a go-go

The latest trend in yellow... I love it! In 1970's home decor, it was known as "harvest gold". (think shag carpets, crochet afghans and refridgerators!) Now it's back- and it's everywhere! I find myself both wearing it and creating with it. I had my mom's "harvest gold" Danish style cane chairs reupholstered many years back- now I wish I hadn't!

somebunny is on his way to minnesota!

I made this card for yesterday's giveaway, and it is on it's way to Deb in Minnesota this morning! Something tells me they could use a bit of sunny yellow up there!

I used one of my favorite papers and chose some matching buttons from my jars. The bunny charm is from Red Lead. They have the best selection of charms around. I've challenged myself to make my cards and tags using only items from my stash this year and I am having such fun!

a bit of spring sweetness in my mailbox, and more from the spring tag book

Sweet Elizabeth made me feel quite special this week! She sent me this delightful hostess gift. A very sweetly packaged spring hanky and handmade tag! Such a wonderful bit of Spring on a cold winter day! Thank you so much!

And speaking of sweet things, this tag was Bev's addition to the red lead springtime tag book. I love the stamp and the happy spring colors.

made by you

A few years ago, Debbie helped Red Lead organize and execute a Spring Tag Book. It was quite an undertaking. Several of our March swappers were a part of that tag book, and I will be sharing some of the wonderful tags with you. I'm going to start with Debbie's tag, which is of course, fabulous!

daffodils = spring

To me, daffodils are THE flower of spring. Ever since I was a little girl, I have been excited to see the first daffodils of the season. They say to me, "Hey, it's really Spring!"

I found this card on Pinterest. It was from the Fiskars website, and was designed by Lisa Storms. I love the simplicity and sweetness of this card. And especially, the daffodils! The tutorial for how to make them are on the Fiskars link in this post.

I pulled out my "springy" papers and images to make a few tags and cards. I couldn't resist this bright and cheerful color combo. I just need to add a bit more to the background...

somebunny else says hello too

This is a pocket tag I made at a Red Lead workshop several years ago. We did a simple hand basting stitch around the felt tag. Very cute idea. And I never could resist an adorable little boy in bunny ears! My adorable little boys have both grown up! In fact, did I mention that my oldest son, Justin is getting married this May? Where does the time go? He was just this age yesterday, and today he is 27. The good news is...I'll be one step closer to being a grandma!

somebunny says hello

I made this tag for a swap a few years ago. The image is a photocopy that I made from the cover of a vintage sewing pattern. Then I added a fun assortment of embellishments and a sprinkling of glitter.
